There is a cycle of 18 years of Ketu (South Node). Ketu is a planet associated with the non-materialistic pursuits and when it is in the sign of Cancer, it has a very prominent effect on the emotions and the materialistic desires. It could cause detachment and loss of wealth for the world as a whole. Ketu in Cancer on many occasions has yielded economic collapses and chaos: the recessions of the 1970s, the 1990 oil crisis, the Great Depression of 2008.
Ketu is entering Cancer in December 2026. The effects and manifestation of the whole could start well before. Be it an AI bubble, a banking crisis, an invasion of an oil-rich country, or regional wars — these forces could cause market meltdowns, widespread unemployment, high inflation, and the rise of nationalism and protectionism.
The Secondary Effect — Saturn in Aries
Saturn in Aries is debilitated and often results in highly significant geopolitical events and changes. Saturn entered Aries in April 1939 — the start of World War II. It also coincided with the deepening Asian financial crisis of 1997–98. The combination of Ketu in Cancer and Saturn in Aries crystallises once in hundreds of years.
